BEHZAD ABGHARI
Critical Thinker, Problem Solver

Hello!
Welcome to my website ... My name is Behzad Abghari and I am a student at the University of Toronto. Here you can view my engineering design philosophy and explore a number of projects that I have done in the past.

I am a highly motivated engineering student, critical thinker, and problem solver. Applying the knowledge and experience that I have gained through various projects, in addition to my academic strengths, have prepared me to be capable of practicing as a professional engineer. Considering the insight that I obtained from completing a broad range of projects, my interests for future development lie in the area of computer programming and software algorithm.

Having had my first hands-on experience in the age of 14, I entered the world of engineering with no prior knowledge with regards to different methods of approaching a problem. As a result, I was left with no approach other than brute-force, which is evident in my first artifact. In the following years, however, by doing more defined and organized projects, I was exposed to a broader range of design processes and techniques. These helped me develop as a problem solver and gave me the ability to produce better working prototypes and solutions. Moreover, upon my entrance to the Engineering Science program at the University of Toronto, I have practiced engineering design in a completely professional manner with the guidance of professional engineers. Various challenging courses such as Praxis 1&2 (Engineering Design) and CIV102 (Structures and Materials) have enabled me to develop further as a professional engineer, in a professional working environment.

The aforementioned projects have been extremely valuable in giving me insight into the different disciplines of engineering. After working on the Sudoku project, I found that my passion lies in the area of programming and software algorithms. Since then, I have been following the work of different professors and developers and learning more about languages such as C/C++. In fact, in the summer of 2013 I will be working on a project which deals with developing learning algorithms for autonomous robots at the University of Toronto Institute of Aerospace Studies. I hope to be able to expand my horizons in this field and develop novel algorithms.

Sincerely,
Behzad Abghari
